My mum always used to tell me I was very funny. Strangely enough, I never really saw it myself.
It wasn’t until recently, when I rediscovered some of my earliest adventures on the internet, that I began to understand what she meant.
By 2012, I was a single mum with a nearly 4 year old son just starting school, finding my feet after a traumatic relationship and trying to leave the DJ world behind. With a little spare time and a head full of creative ideas, I was making music, creating animal bone sculptures and exploring ways to turn my creativity into an income.
YouTube was all the rage, people were going viral and apparently making money doing it.So naturally, I decided to create an online dating agency.For talking pets.....As one does.What followed was a collection of wonderfully ridiculous characters with romantic aspirations, questionable expectations and occasionally alarming personal advertisements.And if you’ve ever ventured into the world of online dating, you might find some of these personalities disturbingly familiar. Let’s just say not everything was entirely invented.
I’ve decided to give them a home here because they’re part of my creative history and, having rediscovered them all these years later, I still think they’re bloody funny.
